This auction is for an old short sword. It was purchased with a large collection of knives and bayonets from a collector and he put tags on them to id them. The tag erads m 1845 german saxon faschinenmesser, artillery. The sword measures 23-1/2 long. hTe blade measures 18-3/8 long. The blade shows numerous scratches and some pitting and tarnish. The blade's edge does have a few small dents or dings on it ni places.
The handle has numerous scratches and dings alogn with some tarnish. The guard piece is stamped with what looks like stahn (see pic 6). The scabbard does show osme wear and damage. The leather part has some cracknig and scuffs. The leather is stamped with the number 212 and there is also a paper tag with the number 605 on it.
The metal ends show scratches and tarnish and they have a few small dents. The brass pieces are a little loose but are still firmly attached. Please check out my other auctions, i have a few other bayonets on now and in the coming weeks i will be putting some other nice rare bayonets on ebay. All of these bayonets were in a large knife and bayonet collection that was recently purchased.
The previous owner had already identified all of the items and had them clearly marked with tags. Thus far, i have not been able to find any errors in his identification. I can offer combined shipping on most items that are won within the same week but i will not be able to get a shipping estimate until after the auctions end and i can pack the items together. We do offer insurance.
