Very Nice French Short Sword Model 1816

This is an interesting variation of a french foot artillery short sword model 16. It is mounted with a wonderful, original high polished and well marked blade that measures 19 1/4 inches in length that remains in superb condition with only a little minor staining. The blade wears teh markings manufacture royale de klingenthal on one side as well as is dated avril 1832 on the other side. The scaled solid brass hilt also remains very nice and continues to wear most of the original gold wash finish. The leather scabbard wears brass fittings with most of the gold wash still present on them as well and the leather although is worn with the stitching loose, does remain in good serviceable condition.

Overall measuirng 26 1/4 inches in length. (please note other items shown as props are not included in this auction).
