Yuo are bidding on a very early dagger with sheath. The end has a large precious stone called a cairngorn(smokey quartz citrine). Thta stone comes from the mountains of scotland. In a silver prong setting, the stone is approximately 1 1/16 wide with some facet cuts. The black horn handle is carved with a grooved rope knot.
The sheath is leather with silver hallmarked mounts with open work and engraving. Teh 4 blade is notched above the blood groove probably to let the blood out faster. There are a series of hallmarks which are photographed.
I feel the knife is probably 1810-1820. Overall condition is great.
I had a gemoloigist examine the stone(believe me, i'm not that good. ) overall length is 8'.
