Ames us staff field officers sword 1860 sword #28.29 inch diamond shaped blade etched with us, eagle, scrollwork, etcblack fishskin grip, twisted brass wirebrass knuckle guard, pommel, and hinged spring and fall counter guard. Nickled scabbard with brass trim #13old blade, probably re-hilted at fasctory. Marked ames mfc co. Probably never really saw use except to withdraw from the scabbard but does have 2 to 3 small nicks in the edge of the blade.
