The n. P. Ames militia officers sword is fully engraved on both sides, overall lenght is 38 1/2 with a blade of 31 and a blood groove of 29 1/2. Both sides of the blade are in very good to near minty condition. Top ot bottom pommel brass knights head, bone handle with chain guard.
The brass guard hsa an eagle with the beak up, shield and four arrows. The blade left to right floral pattern, branches, bow & arrows in a quiver, eagle with 4 arrows in its talon, 9 stars, e. Pluribus unum and leaves on a branch. The right side is engraved in script n. P.
